What I (we) Built / Shipped / Posted
Since I launched a new Substack and forked another, this week DiscreetBear and I focused on the frameworks for my content to make publishing more manageable. Before I started working with DB, I’d already built a script that let me write my drafts in Notion, then run some code that read from the database, opened an invisible browser, logged in to Substack, and added content to a draft page. That was quite a value add and time saver for me, but with the extra powers from DB, we managed to add a new step, pre-publish, that opens a browser, loads my writing, and then runs it through Grammarly to fix my errors. I’ve used Grammarly for years, and I like that waaaay more than having the AIs rewrite my text. Sometimes it looks fine, but most of the time it feels like it rewrites it too much. It never feels like me. I think the issue is that I write poorly and I don’t read enough, so good writing feels off.
Here’s the new Substack where I co-write with DiscreetBear. It’s a weird little experiment, but fun.

What I Learned
“The tool isn’t the work...”
This is a borrowed title from a Twitter article and more of a validation than a lesson learned.

It articulated a sentiment that I luckily have not fallen prey to. While I am likely to try out new things, I do try to backburner things that are interesting but not immediately useful to my workflow. I don’t try to “make things fit.” If you are interested in dabbling with AI, please do, but also, read this and make sure you are doing so in an actually supportive way.

I hope business is good and food poisoning didn't come from the ice cream (I’m fine, btw).
