What I (we) Built / Shipped / Posted
There’s probably a post to be made somewhere about all the memory work I’ve built for my AI agent team. But I think it’s in a pretty good state, and I mostly wrapped that up this week. I also set up a Claude code session with an interactive notebook for exploratory coding projects. I’ve had to rebuild an equally weighted index that a data provider stopped issuing. It’s quite a lot to construct an index. There are many considerations when processing data. I needed to know I was actually getting accurate construction, so I did more direct coding. I could see and verify instead of just letting an agent run with a plan. More on the whys of this next.
What I Learned
"I still need to be the expert..."
I’ll be writing a little about this over in The Context Window, but I’ve been thinking a lot about my knowledge work and the use of AI. There are so many examples of workflows around creation and knowledge work that honestly don’t jive with me. I’m all for concise summaries about dense materials. I’m all for leveraging the speed and power of AI for research. What I don’t really understand is using those resources to create an infinite number of pre-made posts, tweets, and notes to send out into the world. I don’t want to be a mouthpiece for an AI agent. People are into my content for MY thinking and expertise, not an AI’s. I’ve carved out more time to do reading and exploration to keep myself sharp and stimulate idea generation. I want to use all that AI has to offer, but not at the expense of giving away what makes me valuable in the first place.
